Most people have an innate understanding that you shouldn’t give alcohol to your pets. But every once in a while a situation might present itself where you get the idea to give them something with alcohol in it, whether it be beer, wine, or liquor. But whatever reason you have come up with, there is nothing that can be worth the negative side effects and repercussions associated with giving your cat alcohol.

Can I Give My Cat Alcohol? Answer: No.

Giving your cat alcohol is not a good idea, and there is basically no justifiable reason to give them it. A cat’s organs are much different than ours, and they are not able to process alcohol the same way that we do. Our call is very damaging to our own bodies, and has a direct impact on how well your liver functions. You bring things down to a small level, like the size of a cat’s liver, you amplify the effect and cause potential problems that could lead to an emergency situation.

Even though humans started brewing alcohol thousands of years ago, the major takeaway is that it is not a naturally occurring substance and we had to ferment things in order to create it and then realized that it reduced a desirable effect and start drinking it to produce good feelings. But the negative effects of alcohol are well-documented, and it has a dehydrating affect on the liver and other organs in the body, and most everyone knows that drinking alcohol is not a healthy habit.

Generally speaking, if something is such a wonderful to the health of the person, it will also be unhealthy for a cat. Interestingly enough, not everything that is healthy for humans is healthy for a cat. So the best thing to do is to simply give your cat a premium quality Food at certain times of the day and fresh water available at all times. You want to give your cat the healthiest environment possible, and not endanger their health for any reason.

A Cat Has Instincts
Cat’s have a natural instinct to stay away from alcohol, so you don’t really have to worry about them consuming it on their own. It will be something that your likely have to force onto your cat, which should send red flags up since they know what is best for their own bodies. Some things you might have to force feed your cat, like medicine you get from your veterinarian, but typically speaking if your cat doesn’t want to eat, there’s no real reason why you should give it to them.

The Simplicity of a Cat
If you look at the cousins of a domesticated cat, the big cats out of the wild, you see that they lead a pretty simple life. They don’t need a lot of bells and whistles when it comes to what goes in, they simply feed on the same sort of animals day in and day out. A cat maybe domesticated now, but their natural instinct are still the same, they still have claws and sharp teeth, and they need a diet that is high in protein.

You might get bored as the owner giving them the same thing day after day, but they are happy to have their daily meal and food is not a big part of their life. You might consider giving them a treat every once in a while, but that should be something that you buy from the store that is specially formulated for cats. This makes owning a cat super easy because you have to wonder what else you should be giving them and can pretty much put things on autopilot when it comes to feeding them.
