If you suspect that your cat has a sore throat, the first step is an accurate diagnosis that they do indeed have this condition. Many times what we might think is a sore or scratchy throat is actually normal cat behavior, or something completely unrelated.

If you know that their throat is sore because they just coughed up a fur ball, or swallowed something larger than they should have you can give them some soft cat food instead of dry cat food in order to help it go down more easily. Other than that your cat has its own immune system that will help it heal and the condition will pass in time.

As an owner it can be hard to watch your cat struggle with something that humans just pop a lozenge for, but it’s the natural way for them to handle it and you have to give them the time to cope with it on their own. Even though it’s a struggle you have to do what’s best for your feline friend at all times.

If you are thinking that honey might make a good all-natural treat for your cat, it’s best to give them treats that are especially designed for a cat’s digestive system. Anything else besides cat food and cat treats can potentially be harmful to them so it’s best to play it safe and stick to their typical daily diet.
